
While earning two undergraduate degrees in business (cum laude) at the University of Idaho, Kim began working in the construction industry on a municipal road crew as a pipe layer and operator, and for the Idaho Department of Transportation as a surveyor.
Kim began practicing law as the Chief Felony Prosecutor for Nez Perce County, Idaho but quickly shifted into private practice specializing in construction and business litigation. From 1984 to 1992, Kim worked in Lewiston, Idaho as outside litigation and surety counsel for Traveler's Insurance.
After moving to Boise, Idaho in 1992, Kim was retained as General Counsel for Bradson Mercantile, Inc., a Canadian National company with a U. S. Subsidiary. For the next 6 years, while continuing his business and construction litigation practice, Kim helped Bradson convert from a Canadian National to a United States National and Canadian subsidiary. In charge of acquisitions, Kim played a crucial role in acquiring Information Technology, Industrial and Medical Temp-to-Perm businesses in the Pacific Northwest, Colorado Corridor and Research Triangle. During Kim's tenure, Bradson grew into a $200M per-year company. Following Bradson's acquisition in 1998, Kim returned to a full-time business and construction practice.
At present, Kim's practice is focused on complex litigation, primarily in business and construction. Kim has represented all segments of the construction industry including owners, municipalities, general contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers and design professionals. Kim presently serves as lead counsel for Engineered Structures, Inc., a member of Idaho's Private 75.
Kim is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of Idaho, the United States District Courts of Idaho, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Claims. Kim has been admitted (pro hac vice) and appeared in the Courts of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arizona, Mississippi, Virginia, Montana, and Utah.
