
A native of Boise, Kim obtained his undergraduate degree in 1981 from the University of Portland with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a major in Accounting. Kim worked for Arthur Andersen & Company as an auditor for approximately two years before attending law school. In 1986, Kim obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Idaho graduating in the top 15% of his class and serving as the executive editor of the Idaho Law Review. Kim is on the Board of Directors of the Idaho State Bar's Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section and in 2005 received its Professionalism Award.
Kim began practicing law in May 1986 with the national law firm of Holland & Hart based out of Denver, Colorado. In May of 1991, Kim moved his practice to the law firm of Eberle, Berlin, Kading, Turnbow, McKlveen & Jones, Chtd. In January 2001 Kim joined the firm now known as Trout Jones as a shareholder, director and officer.
Kim practices in a wide range of business transactions and business litigation matters and in the last seven years has had more than 30 jury or court trials before the Idaho Federal District Court, the Idaho Bankruptcy Court, or Idaho State District Court. In addition, Kim has appeared multiple times before the Idaho Supreme Court relating to matters on appeal.
Admitted to practice before all courts of the State of Idaho, the U.S. District Courts of Idaho, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Kim has been admitted (pro hac vice) and appeared in courts of Washington, Oregon, and Nevada.
Kim brings more than 21 years of legal experience and several years of accounting experience to provide his clients with a sophisticated, knowledgeable, and practiced analysis of business, real estate, tax, and valuation issues.
